What size mirror should I choose for an entryway?
Above a console table, you should generally choose a mirror whose width is about half to three-quarters that of the furniture. It should appear connected to the console without visually overpowering it.
Measuring the Console and Wall
First, measure the width of the furniture, then the available space between doors, switches, and other wall elements. For a 100 cm console, a mirror approximately 50 to 75 cm wide is often a good starting point.
| Console Width | Indicative Mirror Width |
|---|---|
| 80 cm | 40 to 60 cm |
| 100 cm | 50 to 75 cm |
| 120 cm | 60 to 90 cm |
These proportions are indicative. The shape of the mirror and the ceiling height also influence the result.
How High Should the Mirror Be Placed?
Usually, leave about 15 to 25 cm between the top of the console and the bottom of the mirror. Then adjust so that the center is comfortable to use for the people in the house. Before installation, check the weight, type of fastening, and product sheet indications.
Round, Organic, or Rectangular Mirror?
A round mirror softens a console with straight lines. An organic shape adds movement, while a rectangular model can accentuate the height or width of the entryway. Explore ODECO decorative mirrors by comparing their dimensions.
Decorating the Console Without Cluttering It
Place a vase on one side, then balance the other side with a lamp or a small composition. A tray helps group small items and keep the surface organized.
In a Small Entryway
Favor a mirror that reflects a light source without obstructing the opening of a door. Consult our page Modern Decor for the Entryway for more tips.
